Objective and Significance:
With the improvement of economy and level of people's life in our country, the obesity group is increasing year by year. Obesity has become one of the global threat to human health problems. These fat people, also there is no lack of college students, and the current incidence of obesity rate is increasing during college students year by year.Obesity not only affect the physical beauty but also to reduce students' heart and lung function and body quality, and increaseing risk of coronary heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, cerebrovascular accident, disease of gallbladder cancer and endocrine disease incidence, and adverse effects on all aspects of Obese College Students Psychological and social adaptation. For health, increase confidence and influenced by the media and network of social environment, college students are using various means to control weight.
However, due to lack of scientific understanding of its own weight, is also affected by the western trends, social media and individual economy, college students choose the method reducing weight all kinds of science or scientific. We will perform the project among students of Xianyang Vocational and Technical College, department of nursing. Body weight and perception of body weight, weight loss reasons and methods. We will be based on the study of randomized control study on the small scale to verify our research in the future, in order to get ready for the future large scale weight survey and propaganda.
Methods:
1. Making weight questionnaire by literature reviewing, combined with the network template and according to the actual situation of the students in our school.
2. Testing reliability of the questionnaire.
The reliability of the questionnaire was tested by "repeated survey" of one problem, then four quadrants were created. Testing of reliability coefficient of the questionnaire was according to Kappa Cohen's theory.
3. Examining the validity of questionnaire.
The validity of the questionnaire was examined by the "common factor" test method.
4. Sample size estimation.
Estimate the sample size by sampling survey system parameter estimation.
5. Sample method
Cluster random sampling was carried out among three-year course nursing students of Xianyang Vocational and Technical College.
6. Collection, collation and analysis of the questionnaire data and results
Results:
1. By investigating freshman or junior girls of Xianyang Vocational and Technical College with our questionnaire to get their weight and body weight perception. We found that: 403 students participated in the survey, the number of students whose actual body weight index (Body Mass Index, BMI) were normal (18.5≤BMI<24) occupied the most (77.7%); 75 students’ weight were underweight (18.6%, BMI<18.5) and only 15 people (3.7%) overweight (24≤BMI<28); but no one obesity (BMI>28). However, only 34.5% participant can correctly cognize their own weight.
However, the investigation on cognitive of its own weight discovery that: only 16 students (1.3%) among weight lighter group considered them lean. As for students of normal weight, only 118 people (37.7%) satisfied with their own weight. Only 5 of 16 people consider themselves overweight. Thus, proportion of students who can correctly understanding of their own body weight hold only 34.5%.
Although senior girls own much more medical knowledge than fresh girls, there was no difference on body weight perception in two groups (P>0.05).
2. After questionnaire investigation, we found that: “Lack of exercise” was considered the main reason of obesity (69.1%). On the detecting of weight losing reason, “health’ was the most popular option. Among the 45 girls who lose weight for job-hunting, 32 come from senior (71%) and 13 were fresh girls (29%). As for ever tried weight deduction methods, the majority of students choose “exercise” (77.9%). 53% students access weight reduction method by network. While failure to insist on lose weight were the main reason off ailed to lose weight. Exercise was considered the best way of weight losing (77%). As for students lose weight by diet, the most popular option was dinner deny or decrement. Vegetables and fruit were their main energy source. Jogging, exercise less than 2days and no more than 30min were most students’ exercise program. “Textbook presentation", "Lecture", "Distributing brochures” were the top three options. The majority of students believe that in the course of weight loss " Supervision "," Encourage "," Guidance "and" Escort" were needed.
