ABSTRACT
In recent years, with the improvement of people's living standard and the awakening of self-consciousness, the users’ demand for refrigerator product is not only limited in the level that can be used. The current products have been difficult to load the user's real needs. The traditional development method is simply filling in the blanks in the technical level and imitating, that is, from product size, performance parameters and structural design techniques such as perspective of product development, and whether the product fits in with the consumer’s demand is not clear. If following a new product on the market that consumers are not satisfied, the producer needs to change the structure and parameters. Frequent changes will be to cause a decline in product stability, quality, product features and user requirements. Meanwhile between the traditional design, the collaboration is minimal,and the process is complex,what’s more,the period is long. Simple copy and imitation lead to the product being homogenized, and brands rely on low price competition,which is not good for the whole industry.
This paper introduced a new design method of six sigma, which is based on the subjective qualitative evaluation for the primary stage of product research and development, before the product research and development,it can fully consider customers’ pain points and demand to control the risk in advance, and to design the refrigerator products that truly meet the consumers’ demand. Products designed by the new method actually conform to users’ requirements, to eliminate the market after repeated change, and the stability, process as well as the quality of the product is better, and in the largest extent to solve the disadvantages of traditional design method. There is no home appliance enterprises to introduce the design method of six sigma product development in the field of the refrigerator, and it can help to break the current predicament in refrigerator industry.
In this paper, the main work and innovations are as follows:
First of all, the six sigma design method is applied to the subjective qualitative evaluation of the initial stage of product development, and the quantitative data is analyzed and filtered scientifically.
Secondly, analyses the design of six sigma CDOC(concept, design, optimization and ability) process, and focuses on the theory and application of conceptual phase, and interpret the concept of six sigma’s “benefit oriented”.Around the users’ pain points and demand about the refrigerator products, we put forward the 12 new concepts, which is embodied in the product design.
Finally, studied the CDOC process concept stage of the planning and implementation steps, analyzes its feasibility and effectiveness. The design method improves the collaborative between departments, and shorten the development cycle in the process of product development. It cost savings of more than 160 ten thousand yuan, and the new value chain rises up 5% in gross margin.Meanwhile it can simplify the development process, and the new product defective rate is reduced by 3%.
Through six sigma in refrigerator product design and development of the empirical design method, shows that six sigma design method can perfect aggregation users’ requirements and product technology, which can help enterprises to control development costs, improve product profitability and competitiveness, and the design has universality and popularization significance among the design and development of structural products.
