Abstract :

The interactive spacecraft software is an indispensable supporting system that astronauts work with multiple types of devices. The quality of the software, to a great extent, depends on the software system is designed to be compatible with human capabilities. The purposes of this paper are to identify metrics for measuring and verifying usability of the interactive spacecraft software that focuses on human performance, such as human errors, consistency, and operability, to help designers and evaluators directly figure out software interface problems. The ergonomic evaluation metrics framework was categorized into three dimensions of the interface layer, operation layer, and demand layer included eight primary indicators and 51 secondary indicators. The reliability and validity of the metrics framework were verified in three dimensions – necessity, overlapping-degree, and completeness, in which 12 experts who specialized in the area of the aerospace ergonomic evaluation were investigated. The results can guide to direct future research and practice for the ergonomic evaluation of related software interfaces. © 2021, The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Abstract :

Interacting with out of reach or occluded VR objects can be cumbersome. Although users can change their position and orientation, such as via teleporting, to help observe and select, doing so frequently may cause loss of spatial orientation or motion sickness. We present vMirror, an interactive widget leveraging reflection of mirrors to observe and select distant or occluded objects. We first designed interaction techniques for placing mirrors and interacting with objects through mirrors. We then conducted a formative study to explore a semi-automated mirror placement method with manual adjustments. Next, we conducted a target-selection experiment to measure the effect of the mirror's orientation on users' performance. Results showed that vMirror can be as efficient as direct target selection for most mirror orientations. We further compared vMirror with teleport technique in a virtual treasure hunt game and measured participants' task performance and subjective experiences. Finally, we discuss vMirorr user experience and present future directions. © 2021 ACM.

Abstract :

Classroom interaction is an important part of teaching which can greatly enhance the learning performance of students. However, the following problems still exist in conducting interactive teaching in conventional classroom, such as limited interaction format, lack of enthusiasm and unequal interaction frequency. As a widely adopted interactive tool in online video websites, the bullet screen is instant and convenient with high interactivity, which is extremely popular among the young generation such as university undergraduate students. In this paper, a software platform is designed to collect the bullet screen messages generated by students in classroom and display them instantly together with teaching materials such as lecture slides via projector, which can be later collected for teaching and learning performance analysis. This paper aims to propose a possible solution of the mentioned problems to construct a convenient and efficient interactive classroom to improve the teaching quality. © 2021 IEEE.

Numerical investigation on hydraulic and thermal characteristics of micro latticed pin fin in the heat sink EI

Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

Micro pin fin heat sinks are an indispensable component in high-power electronic devices that are intended to enhance the device's thermal performance. In this study, the combination of conventional pin fin and lattice structure are used to propose a new design of micro latticed pin fin. The thermal performance and the impacts of the flow states and morphological types on the new design are investigated through fluid-thermal coupled numerical approach. The results reveal that overall pressure loss shows a slight improvement by using the latticed pin fin when compared with a solid pin fin. However, only a cubic body-centered-cubic pin fin has a positive influence on hydraulic and thermal performance, using a vertex cube achieves the opposite results. In terms of weight reduction, using the latticed pin fin can reduce the volume of the heat sink by approximately 14%-17%. Considering both pressure loss and Nusselt number (Nu), the improvement of the thermal-hydraulic performance index (η) of the BCC-PF (cubic body-centered-cubic pin fin) heat sink is more than 140% compared with the conventional pin fin heat sink. © 2019

Geometrically nonlinear analysis of CNT-reinforced functionally graded composite plates integrated with piezoelectric layers EI
期刊论文 | 2020 , 234 | Composite Structures | IF: 5.407
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

The paper develops a geometrically nonlinear finite element model with large rotation based on the first-order shear deformation (FOSD) hypothesis for static and dynamic analyses of piezoelectric integrated carbon nanotube reinforced functionally graded (P-CNT-FG) composite structures. A constant electric field distribution through the thickness of plate is considered. An eight-node quadrilateral plate element with five mechanical degrees of freedom (DOFs) and one electric degree of freedom is developed for finite element analysis. Four typical forms of CNT distributions are included in the model, namely uniform, V-shaped, O-shaped, and X-shaped distributions. The nonlinear model considers fully geometrically nonlinear strain-displacement relations and large rotations of the shell direction of plate. Using the Hamilton's principle, a nonlinear dynamic model including dynamic and sensory equations is obtained. The proposed nonlinear model is validated by a frequency analysis of a simply supported P-CNT-FG composite plate. Furthermore, the effects of various parameters on the static and dynamic behavior are investigated, e.g. CNT-reinforcement orientation, CNT distribution, the number of laminate layers and volume fraction. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

Ethical problems of smart wearable devices EI

Abstract :

With usage of big data and development of advanced technology, smart wearable devices have come to market with multifunction. The wearables include smart watches, smart bands, smart glasses and so on. The big data and data analysis can provide more benefits for users and companies. As for users, smart wearables can help to provide a more convenient and healthier lifestyle. Besides, the big data can provide more support for decision making of companies and may encourage creativity. However, ethical problems also appear with the development of smart wearables. First, vulnerabilities of system can be found, which may pose potential threat to users. Second, misused data will also cause bad influence and the companies should be more transparent on the usage of personal data. Third, some smart wearable companies take priority of multifunction of devices rather than data safety. Based on these problems, different entities should take on responsibilities. Users should improve their awareness and knowledge to protect their personal data. As for companies, some principles of personal data released by OECD can be applied when companies deal with personal information. When it comes to society, supervisions of the industry and support for advanced technology should be carried out. © 2019 International Conference on Complexity, Future Information Systems and Risk.

Shakedown loading capacity prediction of metal-based nanocomposites EI

Abstract :

Nano reinforcement of metals cannot escape the attention of designers who seek to improve overall performance of engineering structures from automotive components to biomedical devices. Since many engineering structures are susceptible to variable cyclic load, presenting shakedown design of them is of the present research interest. So that, in the present research the shakedown loading capacity of metal based nanocomposite is estimated through finite element discretization and interior point optimization method. Finally, the results are obtained for plate structures subjected to two independent biaxial loads. A maximum improvement of 71.2% is achieved for shakedown load factor of the structure, which means a remarkable improvement in load bearing capacity of the structure. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Abstract :

In the new wave of the 5G Era, greater use of innovative Internet and IOT services has created tremendous data values, as the same time, people fears are growing that personal information could be handled irresponsibly as a result. The study aims to improve the user experience for the e-mobility services in the future and establish a virtuous relationship between service providers and users in security and privacy aspects and think about how to design the user experience for trust and persuasion to build user confidence. The study explores Chinese’s data-privacy-related perceptions and behaviors and places them in the context of various online services. The findings are based on a Chinese citizens questionnaire survey (N = 1003) and six focus groups (N = 48). The results show that users’ attitude toward ‘Exchanging Information for Service’ is positively correlated with service demands, information sensitivity, cost-effectiveness and trust in service providers. Transparency of interactive interface such as understandable privacy policy visualized user interface, and control of the data produce positive effects on the willingness to share personal information. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.
